Song Lips: blah-blah-blog

Starting a Blog

Posted on September 10, 2012 with 0 comments
Kenny: "It's hard for me to reveal myself to the universe with out feeling a little unsettled, I'm private and I like to create myself in my own thoughts and let my art speak for itself."
Gina: "I want to start a blog with Kenny, so that we can show our different personalities and how that fits into our creativity.  Plus, we both have very different and interesting lives and we would make an awesome reality show."
You can sign up for our blog on Word Press and become part of our reality.

Ruby Slippers

In the further exploration of our own songs we revisit "Ruby Slippers".  It's good to know your own strengths.  We all have Ruby Slippers but, we don't always know that we're wearing them.  The answer is always inside us...what we need and want we have along.
Kenny - "This is one of my favorite songs. And since it's a year since my own "Ruby" came back from the dead, I celebrate the miracle of her recovery.  Hey Ruby--Bark on!  By the way, no one can sing this song as well as Gina, but Katy Perry, in case your listening, cover it."
Gina - "I put a video clip from the Metropolitan Room of Drew, my brother and I, singing "Ruby Slippers" live."

We've been sitting on this song for awhile -- mesmerized by it.  We've been wanting to perfect it by an inspired production but don't have the money.  We decided to be real instead, forsake the production values and trust in its simplicity.
Kenny: "Gina first sang this at her show of our songs at the Metropolitan Room in August 2010.  The audience's mouths, including mine, were agape -- the applause still rings in my ears."
Gina: "I found a video clip of the show, which included my brothers, Drew(Guitar) and Doug (Drums) Yowell."
We're including it for it's live quality and its immediacy. Check it out on the "Links and Videos" page.
On this the longest day of the year we're taking the shortest path to the Truth.  Take a deep breath and move on.

Never Give Up again

Sometimes we have to re-listen to our own songs for encouragement.  A little positive reinforcement goes a long way.  We think it’s ironic that we’re learning from our own selves.  It’s a comfort to know we have such keen insights and give such good advice.  We should listen to ourselves more often.  We hope you do the same.  With this in mind we reprise “Never Give Up” for you to re-enjoy.  New songs are gestating and on their way as well.  Stay turned.

Our "50 Shades of Grey"

Posted on May 16, 2012 with 0 comments
In view of the fact that 50 Shades of Grey has topped the NY Times Best Seller list as the latest controversial pop icon of the minute, we thought it would be fitting to re-introduce our original song called, “Shades of Grey” (written three ago).  Not erotic, but thought-provoking nonetheless, our “Shades of Grey” is provocative because it deals with the eternal truths of life as opposed to the temporal physical ones.  In any case, we humans should not be afraid to think too deeply.  Engaging the higher self can be pleasurable and satisfying also.  Don’t get us wrong we’re not against one night stands, meaningless sex and sensual episodes; we’re just in favor of making our song a hit too. Listen to our song and read the book at the same time, it may double your pleasure.
